Azzaro pour Homme is an aromatic fougere for men, created for Azzaro in 1978 by Gerard Anthony and Richard Wirtz. Lavender, anise and lemon open it sharp and old-fashioned in the best sense, with caraway and clary sage giving the top a herbal bitterness. The middle is dense with woods and roots, cedar, sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli tightened by juniper and cardamom. Oakmoss and leather make the base dry, with tonka bean and amber warming it. A textbook fougere, thick and unhurried. It lasts a moderate while and projects moderately, and it works in autumn and winter, day or night.
