Comme des Garcons 2 is a chypre floral for women and men, composed by Mark Buxton in 1999 and built on Japanese calligraphy, light against shadow, with ink as the dark half. Aldehydes, mandarin, tea and mate make the bright opening, and then the heart turns strange: an inky, metallic note among nutmeg, caraway, cinnamon and magnolia. Incense, labdanum, patchouli and vetiver leave a dry, resinous trail. Odd on purpose, and worn by either sex. It lasts a moderate while and projects moderately, and it suits spring and autumn daylight.
