Vanderbilt is an oriental floral for women, composed by Sophia Grojsman in 1982 and named for the American painter whose house it is, Gloria Laura Vanderbilt. Aldehydes, green notes and pineapple open it bright and slightly soapy over orange blossom and bergamot, and the heart is a classical arrangement of carnation, tuberose, ylang-ylang, jasmine and rose held together by orris root. The base turns warm and powdery: vanilla, cinnamon and opoponax with sandalwood, musk and a civet trace. It lasts a moderate while and projects moderately, and it suits autumn and winter daytime.
