Far Away is an oriental floral for women, made for Avon in 1994 by René Morgenthaler and Xavier Renard. Coconut gives the opening a creamy, tropical softness over peach and ylang-ylang, and the heart is a full white bouquet in which gardenia and jasmine do most of the talking while osmanthus keeps it from going flat. What holds the whole thing together is the base: vanilla, amber and sandalwood, powdery and sweet rather than woody. Comfortable and old-fashioned in the best sense. It lasts a long time and projects strongly, so it belongs to winter evenings.
