212 VIP Black is an aromatic fougere for men, created for Carolina Herrera in 2017 by Carlos Benaïm and Anne Flipo. Absinthe, anise and fennel make the opening sharply liquorice-like, cold and slightly bitter, and lavender is the only thing in the middle, holding that anise idea in place. The base is a black vanilla husk note with musk, dry and smoky rather than sweet, which is what keeps the whole thing from becoming a sweet shop. Very few ingredients, used loudly. It lasts a moderate while and projects moderately, and it suits winter and autumn evenings.
