Loverdose is an oriental vanilla for women, composed by Olivier Cresp for Diesel in 2011, its name a pun that reads either as lover dose or as love overdose. Star anise and mandarin open it, the anise sharp and faintly medicinal, and liquorice carries that thread into a heart of jasmine sambac and gardenia petals. Vanille, amber and woody notes make the base sweet and heavy, but the anise never quite leaves. Odd and deliberately overdone. It lasts a moderate while and projects moderately, and it belongs to autumn and winter evenings.
