Baccarat Rouge 540 is an oriental floral fragrance for women and men, made by Francis Kurkdjian for his own house in 2015. Saffron and jasmine open it, and then it goes somewhere unusual: a sweet, faintly burnt, almost metallic amber built from amberwood, ambroxan and cedar, with sugar and fir resin giving it the caramelised edge it is known for. There is little conventional floral or woody comfort in it. It lasts a long time and projects strongly, and it clings to fabric. Autumn and winter, day or night.
