Le Male is an oriental fougere for men, made for Jean Paul Gaultier by Francis Kurkdjian in 1995. Mint and lavender open it cold and clean, and underneath sits the part everyone recognises: vanilla and tonka bean, warm and almost edible, with cinnamon, caraway and orange blossom bridging the gap and sandalwood and cedar at the end. The contrast between the fresh top and the sweet base is the whole idea. It lasts a long time and projects moderately. Autumn, winter and spring, day or night.
