Black XS is an oriental woody fragrance for men, created for Rabanne in 2005 by Olivier Cresp, Rosendo Mateu and Christian Dussoulier. Lemon and sage open it clean and bright, which turns out to be a feint: within minutes it is sweet and spicy, praline and tolu balsam warmed by cinnamon and black cardamom. The drydown is darker, patchouli and Brazilian rosewood over a black amber that takes on a tobacco edge. Sweet without being cloying. It lasts a moderate while and projects moderately, and it suits autumn and winter evenings.
