Poeme is a floral from Lancôme for women, composed by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud in 1995. It deliberately avoids the usual top, heart and base structure, letting its notes return in echoes instead. Himalayan blue poppy and datura give it an odd narcotic edge, mimosa, tuberose and ylang-ylang supply the yellow and white floral body, and vanilla, tonka bean and amber sweeten the drydown to something close to bitter honey. It is powerful and long-lasting, better in autumn and winter than in heat, and fine day or night.
