Elixir Charnel Gourmand Coquin is an oriental vanilla for women, created by Christine Nagel and Sylvaine Delacourte for Guerlain in 2008. There is no pyramid, just a short list arranged around dark chocolate and cacao, which give it a bitter, dusty depth rather than a sweet one. Rum makes it boozy, pepper and spices keep it from settling, and rose is the one soft thing in it. Vanilla underneath makes the whole thing rich and warm. It lasts a long time and projects strongly, and it works in autumn and winter, day or night.
