Chanel No 5 L'Eau is a floral aldehyde for women, composed by Olivier Polge in 2016 as a light reading of Chanel's No 5, which he had been working on since 2013. Citrus dominates the opening in a way the original never did, lemon, lime, orange and mandarin with neroli, and the aldehydes sit behind them rather than in front. The heart is May rose from Grasse with jasmine and ylang-ylang, clear rather than dense, and it dries down on white musk, orris root, cedar and a little vanilla. It lasts a moderate while and projects moderately, and it suits spring and summer daytime.
