Black Opium is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women, made for Yves Saint Laurent in 2014 by Nathalie Lorson, Marie Salamagne, Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc. Coffee is the point of it: dark and bitter, sweetened with vanilla and set against white flowers, with pear and pink pepper opening it and patchouli and cedar underneath. The house pitched it as a rock and roll reading of the original Opium rather than a straight flanker. It lasts a moderate while and projects moderately. An evening scent for autumn and winter.
