Opium Pour Homme is an oriental spicy fragrance for men, composed by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud for Yves Saint Laurent in 1995 from a short list. Star anise leads, licorice-sweet and cold, with blackcurrant giving a tart fruit edge, and the middle is pepper and galanga, a root with a sharp ginger-like heat. Underneath it turns soft and balsamic, Bourbon vanilla and tolu balsam over Atlas cedar, powdery rather than sugary. It lasts a long time and projects strongly, and it belongs to autumn and winter evenings.
